Privacy
cntdy keeps your counters on your device. The app works offline and does not require an account. Some parts of the service do send data off the device, and this page says which, so you can decide what to use.
What stays on your device
Your counters, streaks, goal completions and reminder settings are stored in your browser’s own storage (IndexedDB), along with small preferences like your chosen language, sort order and whether you have seen onboarding. None of it is sent anywhere unless you turn on sync or share a streak.
Analytics
Every page loads Vercel Analytics and Vercel Speed Insights. They record page views and page-performance timings together with the general technical information a browser sends on any request — things like referring page, country, browser and device type. They do not use cookies and we do not use them to identify you.
On the pre-launch landing page we also record a few interaction events: which navigation links are clicked, when the language is switched, and when the waitlist form is opened and submitted. These record the action, not who took it.
The waitlist
The waitlist form is provided by Tally, and the email address you enter goes to Tally, where we can read it. Along with it we pass which button opened the form and which language the page was in. We use the address to tell you when cntdy launches.
Sharing a streak
When you share a streak, a snapshot of it is uploaded to our server and given a link. The snapshot contains the counter title, its icon and colour, the streak and total counts, and the display name you shared it under. Anyone with the link can open the snapshot and add a cheer — the link is not secret and is not protected by a password, so only share it where you are happy for it to be seen.
Optional account sync
Sync is off until you turn it on. If you sign in, a copy of your exported counter database is stored on our server so your devices can pick it up, and a session cookie holds your account id so we know which copy is yours.
This copy is not end-to-end encrypted. It is stored as it arrives, which means we are able to read it. If that matters to you, leave sync off — the app is fully functional without it.
Who else receives data
- Vercel — hosting, analytics and performance measurement for every page.
- Tally — the waitlist form and the email address you submit to it.
We do not sell your data and we do not use it for advertising.
